The Seiser Alm / Alpe di Siusi, with its deep forests and mighty mountain peaks, is home to numerous myths and legends. Besides women with a special knowledge of herbs, dwarves and giants picture prominently in the stories connected with this region.

The regional lore is especially rich in tales about the malevolent Schlern/Sciliar witches. Compatsch/Compaccio is the entry point into the Seiser Alm / Alpe di Siusi “Witches’ Roundtrip Tour,” which has seven stations and lots of magic fun for young and old, alike. The Fun Park, “Witch’s Hump” ski slope, an obstacle course through an ice tunnel, and a “Witches’ Park” with life-size figures of witches are just some of the attractions. Of course, you’ll also find the famous “Witches’ Benches” where the Schlern/Sciliar sorceresses rested and conjured clouds.
The Seiser Alm / Alpe di Siusi Witches Roundtrip will take you to some of the best outlook points in the region, where mythological beings like witches, giants, and other creatures are said to have once roamed: Puflatsch (2,130 meters above sea-level), Spitzbühl (1,935 m), Panorama (2,009 m), Goldknopf (2,249 m), Williams Hut (2,100 m), Steger Dellai, Monte Piz, and Piz (2,005 m).
Today, seven wooden installations pay tribute to the memory of the weird doings of the Schlern/Sciliar witches. At each station, there’s a “Witches’ Book” with information about the strange activities of these mysterious legendary figures.
