Each day leads us to a different winery – from historic places to exciting newcomers. Places rich in history, character, and a distinctive connection to their landscape.
Who could tell the story of a wine better than the person who created it? At every tasting, we meet the winemakers personally and hear their stories – right where their wines are made.
From breakfast at the hotel to shared lunches and individual dinners: cuisine accompanies the journey just as naturally as the wine – authentic, regional, and with a deep sense of quality.
With her unique way of telling the story of wine, Sandra Schgaguler opens new perspectives. She connects places, people, and flavours into a harmonious whole – making each stage of the journey more intense.

It becomes truly exciting when we set out on a journey of discovery with our sommelière Sandra Schgaguler: we visit wineries with centuries-old history and the rising stars of tomorrow. We meet people who speak about their terroir with love and produce exceptional wines with passion.
On our four-day wine journey, we get to know fascinating winemakers and outstanding wines from the wine-growing areas around the Sciliar, in Appiano, and in the Valle Isarco

When Sandra Schgaguler talks about wine, it sounds like poetry. Rarely does she speak of yeasts, steel tanks, or barriques, although the trained sommelière naturally possesses in-depth knowledge of grape varieties and masters the full range of cellar techniques. Instead, she prefers to tell stories about the people behind the wines. About the remarkable and diverse vineyards around her hometown of Castelrotto at the foot of the Alpe di Siusi. About the artists who design the labels. About the vineyards in this unique landscape, about 110-year-old wines and traditional farms whose history dates back to the 14th century.
And when she describes wines, she does not use the typical vocabulary but rather vivid, evocative words that bring the landscapes to life in which Schiava or Lagrein, Pinot Blanc or Chardonnay thrive. Words that spark curiosity about the winemakers who turn them into small works of art.

Welcome
Arrival and introduction
A relaxed start to our shared wine days from 7:00 PM.
Sommelière Sandra Schgaguler has selected special South Tyrolean producers for this evening and introduces us to the coming days with tastings and stories about the people behind the wines.
Sunday, 14.06.26:
Wine, Art & History at the Foot of the Schlern
Tradition and modern techniques
We hike along the Farm Trail of Aica, a special and famous trail, through the vineyards. Along the way, we explore alpine aromas: moss, mushrooms, undergrowth – Sandra explains the different wood notes.
Afterwards, we visit our first winery. Its history dates back to the 14th century, and its owners share fascinating milestones from the estate’s long past, including the challenges of cultivating their high-altitude and particularly steep vineyards.
Each of their wines tells the story of the unique terroir of Fiè allo Sciliar, where the interplay of sun, soil, and craftsmanship creates a truly special taste experience. During the tasting of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Schiava, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Noir, we experience this character firsthand.

Terroir & Präzision im Weinbau
Small & refined
Today we visit a very special winery in Appiano sulla Strada del Vino, the heart of South Tyrolean wine production. The winemakers call their wines “mountain wines.” We learn how specific soils such as red limestone or shell limestone influence their distinctive flavours. How does organic farming affect the wine? What exactly are spontaneously fermented wines? Are orange wines the future? The owners guide us through their vineyards and invite us to taste in the cellar: an exciting behind-the-scenes experience.

We are Family
“Appreciating the past and working for the future” is the mantra of the winery we visit in the afternoon. Decades ago, the winemaking family expanded classic South Tyrolean varieties like Schiava and Lagrein with international grapes such as Merlot, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Franc, all of which thrive here.
Today, the estate is run by several generations – as diverse as their personalities, so are their wines. Yet all are created with the same care: gentle pruning, targeted cover crops, careful leaf thinning – much of it done by hand. And great flexibility in the cellar, where each wine rests on its lees for as long as it needs.

Tuesday, 16.06.26:
All Organic – Steep hills, Small Vineyards, Ecological Viticulture
In harmony with nature
At 600 meters above sea level, we find a traditional organic farm in the Valle Isarco, whose wines we discover today. Located on a steep hillside near Chiusa and close to an ancient Roman customs station, the family business focuses on a holistic life in harmony with nature – a philosophy that protects both people and the environment while producing exquisite white wines: Sylvaner, Gewürztraminer, Riesling.

A young rebel and ancient vines in the Valle Isarco
The impressively steep vineyards near Bressanone can be seen from far. Only four hectares belong to the small winery we visit in the afternoon, and the oldest vines are 110 years old. An idyllic setting: sheep roam between the rows, and the view is breathtaking.
Here, the young winemaker produces his fine, organically certified wines: Sylvaner, Riesling, Portugieser, and Pinot Noir.
